When couples therapy concludes and a couple decides to pursue a divorce, mediation is the preferred method for those who wish to conserve financial resources and work with their ex/spouse to amicably reach an agreement regarding all aspects of a separation or divorce. Litigated divorces are extremely expensive, cause significant stress for families and for the children, and may take a year or longer to resolve through the Court. We believe that when an individual participates in and has a voice in the divorce process, the agreement reached is fair and best suited to their particular family’s needs. Choosing a co-mediation team, comprised of a social worker and an attorney, ensures that the financial and legal issues are explored, and will also allow parents to craft and establish parenting plans/schedules and parenting choices that work for their family and, most importantly, their children.
